Holiday Charity Drives

Holiday Charity Drives

The Holiday Season should be filled with joy and wonder. However, with our current economy there are many South Jersey families struggling just to live day to day. You can make a difference by participating in various Holiday Charity Drives to help bring some happiness to people in your community that you don’t even know need the help.

Contribute to a Food Drive

November is the month when the Holiday Spirit really spreads, and holiday planning begins to eat up calendar space. This year just like last year looks much different than seasons past. As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to linger along with it the uncertainty it creates, one thing remains the same: The joy that comes from spreading holiday cheer by helping our neighbors in need.

This year, about 800,000 people in New Jersey face hunger every day. 200,000 of them are children, that’s roughly 1 in 10 children. Additionally, children in South Jersey counties such as Atlantic, Cape May, and Cumberland were almost twice more likely to experience hunger than the rest of the state, with 1 in 6 children vulnerable to hunger.

At Gentilini Chevrolet we have taken steps in an effort to help these children by teaming up with The Community Foodbank of New Jersey Southern Branch and hosting a Food Drive right here at our dealership. Now through December 13, drop your donations in any of the boxes located in our Showrooms & Service Areas, and we will deliver them to those who need it most this holiday season.

Contribute to a Toy Drive

This time of year is full of wonder, imagination, and the hope of new toys for most children. Many South Jersey families have had to shift priorities especially with the current state of the global economy and uncertainty it brings. Alarmingly, approximately 15 million American children live in poverty. Studies reveal that growing up in poverty can have an adverse psychological impact on a child. One of the adverse impacts is low self-esteem, a by-product of little or no hope for the future.

The new toy which millions of needy children receive each Christmas from Marines, through the Toys for Tots Program, delivers a message of hope. By being excellent role models and setting an example for others to emulate, Marines, through Toys for Tots, perform passive mentoring. Economically disadvantaged children who receive toys through the Toys for Tots program have an opportunity to observe first-hand how young men and women, just like themselves, have achieved success.

At Gentilini Chevrolet we are doing our part to assist our local Toys For Tots branch by partnering with them as a drop off location. In 2021 our local Toys For Tots branch supported 3,248 local children and distributed 18,036 toys!

Drop your donations in any of the boxes located in our Showrooms & Service Areas, and we will deliver them to those who need it most this winter.

Contribute to a Coat Drive

With the holiday season comes the colder weather. Many people right here in South Jersey do not have proper attire needed to keep warm this winter.

At Gentilini Chevrolet we are doing what we can to help those in need in our surrounding communities by teaming up with local organizations that accept and distribute coats on behalf of Coats For Kids. Drop your donations in any of the boxes located in our Showrooms & Service Areas, and we will deliver them to those who need it most this winter.

How can you help people facing food insecurity? Donate food or money to a food bank.

Every $1 donated helps Community Food Bank of New Jersey provide three meals to individuals struggling with food insecurity. Financial gifts of any amount fuel their signature programs such that allow them to reach more people in more places across Southern New Jersey. As you reflect back on 2022 and look ahead to 2023, consider taking a moment to do good in your community and ensure that everyone has enough to eat throughout the holidays and beyond by donating today.

Volunteer Your Time

If means are limited this year and you’re unable to donate money, consider volunteering with our local charitable organizations. With the increased need for food, coats, clothing, shelter, and toys in our community, your support is invaluable.

Here at Gentilini Chevrolet, the holidays are about gratitude, and we could not be more grateful for your support. Thank you for participating in our holiday charity drives, nourishing our community, and ensuring everyone has access to nutritious food for themselves and their loved ones. We could not do this work without you.

Watch migratory birds head south for the winter

Throughout New Jersey, you’ll find a number of wilderness areas overflowing with coastal marshes, ponds and forested islands ideal for bird watching. During the fall months, spot migratory birds from a network of trails at Cape May Point State Park or make your way through vast trail systems that are home to over 360 species of birds at Edwin B. Forsythe Wildlife Refuge that covers over 48,000 acres from Oceanville in Atlantic County all the way up to Cedar Bonnet Island in Ocean County along the South Jersey coastline. Bird migrations are fascinating. Many migratory birds travel thousands of miles on their annual journeys. New Jersey’s location along the Atlantic Flyway gives us a ringside seat to the spectacular annual migration. The Atlantic Flyway is a major north-south migratory route that follows the Atlantic coast from Canada down to Central and South America.

All Electric Chevrolet Silverado EV

The green revolution is sweeping nearly every industry, and the automotive industry is no exception. In an effort to reduce emissions and minimize drivers’ carbon footprints, many automobile manufacturers began with gas/electric hybrid vehicles.

According to the International Council on Clean Transportation the electric vehicle market in the United States has grown from a few thousand vehicles in 2010 to more than 315,000 vehicles sold annually from 2018 to 2020 which makes up about 2.5% of new vehicle sales. Chevrolet has had its share of models that included the Malibu Hybrid as well as all-electric plug-in vehicles, the Volt and the Bolt. General Motors showed the world how simple and smart owning an electric vehicle can be — but that was just the beginning. We’re heading down the road toward an all-electric future, and we want you in the passenger seat with us for all the innovations, announcements, and reveals as we create some of the most exciting and advanced vehicles in Chevrolet history. Well that future is here and now!

Chevrolet recently announced the launch of the fully electric Silverado EV pickup, and is adding two more electric vehicle SUV models by 2023. We will begin selling electric versions of the Chevrolet Equinox and Chevrolet Blazer in 2023 in addition to the Silverado EV. Chevrolet is not the only GM nameplate that is introducing EVs in the next two years. The company has started to deliver the GMC Hummer EV pickup truck and is also introducing the Hummer EV SUV in 2023. An electric GMC Sierra is coming to market, likely in 2023 as well.

By the end of 2025, GM will launch 30 EVs globally, and more than two-thirds will be available in North America. Cadillac, GMC, Chevrolet and Buick will all be represented, with EVs at all price points for families, work, adventure and performance. Between 2020 and 2025, GM will invest $35 billion in EV and AV product development spending, exceeding GM’s gas and diesel investment. The investments will create thousands of new, good-paying U.S. jobs. This includes plans to make our Factory ZERO and Spring Hill, Tennessee assembly plants dedicated to electric vehicle production.

At Gentilini Chevrolet we are taking environmental responsibility seriously, and have taken steps to ensure that we are your go to local South Jersey Chevy Electric Vehicles dealer. We have been chosen as one of eight NJ businesses to receive funding for incorporating renewable energy & energy efficiency into operations, showing the public we care about the environment and creating a sustainable future for NJ communities. We are leader in the area for green technologies utilizing a specialized LED lighting system for the entire property that drastically reduced energy consumption. In addition, all rooms in the building contain occupancy sensors so lights turn off automatically when a room is not in use, and usage of highly efficient radiant heating systems. We are equipped with two electric vehicle charging stations with the plans to add more, and have put all of our staff through extensive training on everything electric vehicle related. Give us a call at (609) 861-9000 or take the short drive to sit with an Electric Vehicles specialist today!

Gentilini Chevrolet Making Strides Against Breast Cancer

Today, National Breast Cancer Awareness Month is about more than awareness of the disease – it is about making people aware of the challenges that remain, it is about removing barriers to care for the people it affects, it is about reducing the disparities that exist across races, genders and ethnicities, and it is about reminding people that one in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime.

According to the American Cancer Society estimates for breast cancer in the United States for 2023 are: About 297,790 new cases of invasive breast cancer will be diagnosed in women. About 55,720 new cases of ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) will be diagnosed. About 43,700 women will die from breast cancer. In recent years, incidence rates have increased by 0.5% per year. At this time there are more than 3.8 million breast cancer survivors in the United States. This includes women still being treated and those who have completed treatment. Through research grants, scientists have been able to better understand breast cancer and develop better treatments. As a result, more lives are being saved. But there is still work to be done to save lives, and help people live better lives, longer.

At Gentilini Chevrolet we’re proud to announce the launch of our Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Sales Event to help bring awareness and raise money for Breast Cancer. With this campaign we will make social media posts throughout the month honoring customers and Breast Cancer victims/survivors using #MakingStrides and #IDriveFor to bring awareness. We will also make a donation for every new and used vehicle sold or leased in October to help raise money for Breast Cancer research. Customers can take advantage of the best deals with real value and no empty promises at Gentilini Chevrolet!

We hope that with our help and the help of customers getting their new vehicles from us that one day a cure can be found for this deadly disease that has affected so many families right here in our own communities. If you are in the market for a new or used vehicle then give us a call or stop by today to see what we have to offer. Not only will you get a great deal on America’s most awarded brand, but you can also feel good knowing that your purchase with us is making a difference in the fight to end Breast Cancer.

South Jersey Winter Roadway

Despite what the calendar may say, taking a step outside will reassure you that the cold front in New Jersey is still in full swing. In a temperamental climate like this Northeastern one, it’s important to make sure that your car is running, quite literally, like a well-oiled machine; in cold and snowy conditions, overlooking the smallest aspect of routine maintenance could be a huge safety hazard. Here are a few cold-weather auto tips:

First and foremost, it’s important to check your antifreeze. Without enough antifreeze, you could be looking at some corrosion in your radiator, engine, or heater. You can have this tested at a South Jersey Chevy service station or repair center, or you can buy a tester at an auto supply store for about $5. In any case, it’s important to make sure you’ve got a 50/50 mixture of water and antifreeze in your radiator.

Then, of course, keep your tires in check. This is also good advice for anyone looking for new and used Chevy vehicles for sale in South New Jersey during the winter months – look at the tires! Tires that have been consistently rotated and that have a decent amount of tread on them are crucial for navigating the roads in wet or icy conditions. Without enough tread, you won’t be able to get traction and you’ll be much more likely to get into an accident.

Make sure that your windshield wipers are replaced regularly as well. Ice and snow take a toll on wipers, so you may need to do this more frequently in the winter. The last thing you want is to be unable to brush away snow and rain from your windshield, causing it to freeze and making it extremely difficult to see.

Aside from these three main cold weather maintenance items, make sure that you’re getting regular oil changes, cleaning your battery posts (no one wants to hear the dreaded sound of a failing starter in the midst of winter), and make sure your brakes are in good condition. By doing so you will be able to keep your Ford on the road in good working order, and avoid getting stuck out in the cold.
